The Troll and His Tree

The Troll and His Tree,

full of books

as far as

the eye could see.

A lantern that hung

to light the internal

world ‘aflame,

twisting stories in and around

the scarlet-leafed rungs.

Who knows how far

the Troll traveled

that day.

He immersed himself

in worlds and universes,

in follies and in play.

He made quite a mess

of their minds

and their stories.

He whipped around

in the trees

and sang of its glories.

To be self taught

was the greatest of pleasures.

It showed imagination

and heart full of measure.

They made fun of

his lonesome ways.

Little did they know

he’d have his day.

The Troll and His Tree,

full of books

as far as

the eye could see.
