Although it may not have been the artist’s intentions, I still like to refer to the following tunes as recovery songs. I listened to these over and over in specific times in my life when I was down and out, trying to recover and trying to stay sober. I would say each song spanned a period of 3 years or so and then it was on to the next. I’ll start with the latest first. They got more and more fierce as time went on.
In rehab, we would end the night amongst a hundred or so peers, gathered together in one room, listening to music. None of these were on the list, but I went ahead and sent a CD full of songs that I thought were appropriate for the wind-down, as a thank you. These four are my top recovery songs. Got a good one to share? List it in the comments! 🙂
Hopefully this will hit a chord with you if you are grateful today, suffering tonight, just need a pick me up, need to kick something, or need time to reflect on your time spent in sobriety…even if you are simply thinking about getting to that point.
