Deny Me

Deny me myself,

and I’ll fight back in one.

Show me my health,

and I’ll tell you you’ve won.

Deny me my rage,

and I’ll fight back in two.

Turn over the page,

and I’ll show you what’s true.

Deny me my joy,

and I’ll fight back in threes.

Give up your toys,

and you’ll be begging me please.

Deny me my loneliness,

and I’ll fight back in fours.

Admit to your hopelessness,

and you’ll heal those old sores.

Deny me my voice,

and I’ll fight back in fives.

Lend me a choice,

and I’ll put down the knives.

Deny me my sins,

and I’ll fight back with six.

Boast of your wins,

and I’ll pay you for tricks.

Deny me my fear,

and I’ll fight back with seven.

Shed the glass tear,

and I’ll show you your heaven.

Deny me my sorrow,

and I’ll fight back with eight.

Focus on tomorrow,

and I’ll sit here and wait.

Deny me my laughter,

and I’ll fight back with nine.

Close that chapter,

before I feed you more wine.

Deny me my mistakes,

and I’ll fight back with ten.

Learn to grow for heaven sakes,

or I’ll have to recount this again.
