There is this star that glimmers beyond the branches of a tree out back. Small as it may be, it caught my eye. Not everything needs to shout and not everything needs to hustle. Steadfast, beyond the grave, it shimmers tonight, reminding me of you.
Not because you embody it’s presence, but maybe more because it reminds me of someone you once were and someone I hope you become again. I sent out a few prayers to this star and it answered, splitting my heart in two.
Sometimes I wonder if it’s the reflection of you beyond, some day in the future, where you’ve taken the eternal rest. Some day not now and some day not yesterday.
I fear it’s the may come soon.
So, forgive me if I pray to you beyond the words we say. Beyond our happiness and beyond our projected hopes. Beyond my fear, on this day.
